World Population Implosion Is Real: Demographic Nightmare Noted
73This is a discussion of why and how the number of people, on this planet, is rapidly shrinking.
Why does the world presently seem
too crowded? Mainly, it is because people are just living longer;
there is, in fact, NO POPULATION EXPOLSION. It is a gross and inaccurate
misconception of surely vast proportions, to say the least.
To set the record straight, and as even reports done by the United Nations in
the last 10 to 15 years have so repeatedly confirmed, no true population
explosion actually exists now or even, moreover, is there any projected
population expansion extremely far into the future. These are the facts.
Any yet, most people, including many policy makers, politicians, social planners, pundits, etc., are mentally and emotionally stuck back in the 1960s/70s when some thinkers, ignorantly, had wildly postulated a supposed, ongoing, uncontrollable explosion.
If they had, in fact, properly double-checked, analyzed, critiqued, and reviewed any available data more cogently and carefully, it was, therefore, easily possible to appropriately realize that the examined trends would go against any projected population explosion. There is a major birth dearth in that empirically documented rates of population replacement levels are decreasing almost everywhere, not just in Japan and Europe.
Overcrowding exists, along with its many symptoms and features, of course, simply because most people, usually, tend to want or have to live, due to employment and often related needs, either directly in or near compacted urban or major metropolitan areas in most countries; but, this observed situation of urbanization and modernization is being ignorantly translated into an assumed problem of mere overpopulation, which is false.
It needs to be made widely known, therefore, that fewer and fewer people, on average, are having babies; and, the vast majority of those people who do grow to adulthood, in turn, then decide to not have large families or have as few children as possible, or, of course, none at all.
Documentation of Undeniable Facts of Reality
Interested readers, if they may ever at all doubt seriously the massive empirical truth can freely consult the following major sources: Fatal Misconception: The Struggle to Control World Population byMatthew Connelly; Florian Coulmas’ Population Decline and Ageing in Japan - The Social Consequences; Fewer: How the New Demography of Depopulation Will Shape Our Future by Ben Wattenberg; also, one can see: War Against Population: The Economics and Ideology of Population Control by Jacqueline Kasun and Phillip Longman’s The Empty Cradle.
In addition, an excellent DVD that
extensively explores multiple and various aspects of this question, in great
detail, by suggesting further thought on this highly important subject is well
entitled: Demographic Winter: The Decline of the Human Family;
information on it can be found at the website by that same name, meaning
Demographic Winter.
Another useful DVD, produced by the same organization, is: Demographic
Bomb: Demography Is Destiny. What is revealed ought to be
considered absolutely shocking to a candid world. Virtually everything
that was or is still being propagandized about was and, moreover, is still
either mainly or, in many cases, completely false.
Expanding, not contracting, populations do lead directly to a greater overall economic progress, higher incomes, social innovations, and economic opportunities for increasing numbers of people who, thus, can then enjoy a rising, not falling, standard of living; environmental problems, such as pollution, can be much better dealt with by those nations heading into the postindustrial phase of advanced socioeconomic development, not the Second or Third World nations.
Many more enhanced cultural, economic, and social abilities to find requisite cures for diseases, inventions for making human lives safer, efforts to fight pollution more effectively or efficiently, etc. are dramatically aided through a rising level of population that, logically, creates a fairly rational and sustainable demand for such things. It is the known, unavoidable, and inexorable economic law of supply and demand at work.
However, the people who ought to be having children are not usually doing so either due to a desire for more leisure in their lives with material gains, the case of women who decide to opt for only having a career, divorce situations that lessen the number of births, and for other reasons.
Baby Boomers Are Aging: Dis-Economic Consequences
All of the above has extremely dramatic implications and important consequences, direct and indirect. Due to the observed demographic projection of, e. g., the Baby Boomers’ move into the retirement phase of their lives, the 2009 Economic Crash could have been largely foreseen and easily predicted.
The Baby Boomers will be spending,
on average, less and less forever going into their retirement years; not enough
economically productive people now exist, therefore, to support substantially a
consumer-driven economy geared toward increasing prosperity and, therefore, an
ever logically higher standard of living for most Americans.
This will have, literally, many disastrous effects, economic, political,
social, etc., on the future of this country and, by extension, the rest of the
world to the extent that it depended upon this nation for largely encouraging
much world prosperity.
Due to the above demographic factor,
the fundamental economic basis for a genuinely viable and sustainable future
recovery, on a proper scale needed for having a both productive and expanding
economy, does not easily exist in this country; in addition, it is fairly
rather hard to reasonably conceive of a suitable way of greatly restoring the
possibility for having a tremendous economic recovery with fewer, instead of
more, people.
Added to this unfortunate situation is the fact that the traditional two-parent
family of a husband and wife with children is under very enormously sustained
assault and alternatives are being oddly proposed as more suitable or PC
concerning this contemporary era and its often (alleged) socio-pluralistic
needs; thus, sodomite relationships (so-called same-sex “marriage”) are, by
rational definition, naturally incapable of producing any children. The
results of artificial contraception have, in addition, contributed both
directly and indirectly to an increase of sterility in human
populations.
Needed Replacement Levels Are Unfortunately Falling
The troubled human family, as has
been sadly noted, is greatly shrinking, even in the USA; the documented rate of
illegitimacy has barely kept up a population replacement rate here of about
2.1%, meaning that the presence of illegal aliens has not be truly sufficient,
in and of itself, to fully sustain a demographic replacement level; moreover,
Mexico is itself now experiencing a large decline of fertility that will
necessarily, in turn, critically reduce the then basic numbers of its people
willing and able to cross the border into America.
Latin America, in general, is also experiencing declines in population, in most
countries, that do not seem to be in the direction of reversing any time soon,
if at all.
In the United States itself, as a
most particular case-in-point, the interesting and shocking fact is now well
noted that the, thus, vast majority of the native-born people, meaning
especially the White people of European ancestry, are then not reproducing
at any rate near replacement level but are, quite markedly, in true and
predictable decline.
Any rate at 1.3% or less is, therefore, logically incapable of fertility
recovery for needed population growth (White people of European ancestry) and
is, moreover, factually geared toward natural population extinction.
Of course, the vast majority of the
intelligencia, academics, world statesmen, etc., are ignorant, deliberately so
or otherwise, of these rather extensively documented facts of reality
concerning the human population, economic consequences, and other related and,
thus, interrelated matters. Important decisions need to be made now, not some
generations from now, concerning many proper and successful ways and means of
substantively and substantially reversing this horrible trend toward human
extinction.
On the bright side, nonetheless, religiously orthodox Christians,
Moslems, Jews, etc. tend to usually have large or very large families that
slightly counterbalance what is happening, though they are, of course, in the
still distinct minority. The Latin Mass community people, among
traditionalist, orthodox Roman Catholics, tend to have extensive or very
extensive numbers of children for the greater glory of God.
Contrary to much popular or many stereotypical beliefs, however, the basic majority of, e. g., Moslems, in general, do not just continually overproduce children; and, they are, increasingly, following the aforementioned main trend toward lower fertility/reproduction rates around the world. Depopulation is, thus, a truly genuine and notable crisis of disastrous proportions whose ultimate magnitude is still not completely known; the massive birth dearth is, therefore, quite undoubtedly real, not an extravagant exaggeration of supposedly overworked imaginations.
Life or Death Be Triumphant?
Again, the reader of this article is openly, candidly, referred to the many books and DVDs cited in support of what is actually known and, moreover, can be independently verified. People need to know that there is no such thing as, in fact, a population explosion.
Moreover, there are many real and really dire consequences to the increasing scarcity of children, in general, all over the world. Those thinkers, pundits, commentators and others who absurdly and wrongly think that a less populated world will see some sort of utopia come into existence are fundamentally ignorant of the documented facts, oblivious to recorded world history when such declines occurred before (e. g., the Fall of the Roman Empire), and heedless of the many warning signs that a declining humanity naturally bodes ill for the human race, on the whole, in general.
Most of the world is, more or less, heading toward the demographic conditions in Japan, at 1.3% or less population rate, with Europe not really too far behind that Asian country; and, much of the rest of this planet is seeing fewer and fewer births on a grand scale totally unprecedented in historical terms. The putrid pursuit of materialism unbounded leads to nihilism accepted and the proposition of death required by its own integral and Nietzschean logic; deliberate sterility is a prerequisite for, ironically, that joyless joy.
It is as if, in effect, the Black Death of the 14th century in Europe is simply reoccurring, again and again, in just functional or operational terms of seeing a population decline fixed upon a significantly massive scale; therefore, as has been thoroughly argued here and elsewhere, the tremendous and perceived world population implosion goes unchecked; and, in general, few people, especially those in the leadership positions in this world, seem to care.
Yet, many social scientists and demographers, however, know now the overwhelmingly provable truth about what is unfortunately happening and the real reasons why it is, therefore, occurring. The so evident destruction of society, culture, and civilization can be, however, prevented if the true cause for such pandemic devastation is plainly made better known. Modernization and urbanization, among other factors, including more education and economic opportunities for women, are not the only major factors involved; they are, in actuality, only effects and not the true, ultimate cause of depopulation, at such a notably massive rate, verging toward extinction if not primarily reversed.
Conclusion
A world stupidly trying to cognitively and materially live without reference to and essential, needed belief in God is, it is required to be said forcefully, shockingly finding out that humanity without the Lord God Almighty ceases to be both human and alive, not just simply a Godless humanity.
Some good, highly instructive, and,
thus, intriguing reading would include Fr. George William Rutler’s Beyond
Modernity: Reflections of a Post-Modern Catholic and his A Crisis
of Saints; Christopher Dawson’s Religion and the Rise of Western
Culture, Religion and Culture, and his The
Formation of Christendom; H. W. Crocker III’s Triumph: The Power and
the Glory of the Catholic Church; and, Thomas E. Woods, Jr.’s How the
Catholic Church Built Western Civilization. As was known to
Dawson and others, religion is the basis and origination of culture that, in
turn, can allow for the creation of a civilization; an atheistic civilization
is, thus, an aberrant impossibility that a decadent modernism had, failingly,
tried. So, this reading is vitally
needed for instruction.
Equally, it couldn’t really hurt, morally or otherwise, to then become well
acquainted with the good writings of G.K. Chesterton, John Henry Cardinal
Newman, Msgr. Robert Hugh Benson, Rev. Gerard Manley Hopkins, and Fr. Ronald A.
Knox.
Without God, it has been always wisely said, nothing is ultimately possible; with God, all things are (needfully) possible.
Athanasius contra muindum!
You're welcome, again!! And, I agree.
Hard Times,
Thanks for sharing this thoughtful analysis of population decay. I think I'd disagree with you that this is a bad thing, however. More people typically entail more war. Fewer people would cause wealth inflation, conceivably.
But I'm in agreement with your assessment with Humanity's loss of spirituality and intoxication for materials. We're destroying our own planet, killing off ourselves in wars for resources, and allowing people to control other people. Maybe it'll get better.
I hope so. Voted up.
Thanks,
Dan
Thanks for writing this article; it was very thorough :)
You've missed a few facts of nature that make your article rubbish.
God created the Earth and gave it a fixed size. He gave us the intelligence to notice that therefore it cannot feed an infinite number of humans. He also gave us the ability to recognize that a birthrate, the average number of children than people have, causes the population to grow. Given enough time, it will hit that limit. At that limit, children must die at a rate that will cancel out the birthrate above two. For example, if the birth rate is three, then one in three children will not become adults. If the birthrate is 2.5, then one in five children will die. In short, maintaining a birthrate above two kills children.
This is the way God made our world, and I don't see how he wanted us to ignore these facts.
Please recognize that while your article references lots of other articles to add more weight to your argument, these facts require no experts to back them up or to confirm them. You simply think this through.
Another way to look at these facts: if the planet cannot handle an infinite number of people, how do we ensure that we do not reach that limit? Well, death and birth are the two things that determine how many of us there are. If we give birth at a rate above that which we die of old age, (two babies per person because it takes two to make a baby), then we must die sooner.
Once you comprehend these facts, you'll have an easier time making sense of some other things.
There is no danger of humans going extinct (I have trouble comprehending why I need to write this. We are concerned about polar bears that number in the thousands. There are billions of humans. Please, extinction?). If we get our birth rate below two and keep it there long enough, our numbers will peacefully drop to any level we choose. To stabilize it at some number where there's no pressure to chop down the Brazilian rain forest and no pressure to drain the Ogallala acquifer, and no worry of driving other species to extinction, we simply have a few more children such that the birth rate is slightly above two.
If we all choose to make no babies, we will be extinct in about one hundred years, but there's no crime in this. No human will be harmed. In contrast, children will be killed if the birthrate does not drop and stay below two.

Thoroughly put. "Population explosion" AND "massive, worldwide starvation by the year 2000" were the craws that stuck in the minds of almost everyone, and we now see an example of, and the results of a self-fulfilling "prophecy"; but some individuals were not, and are not so easily fooled.
Great list of authors on recommendation.
